Conserving Ecosystems

Vision 2050 Forestry and the Wli Agorviefe Communities National Forest, improved forest management project, which introduced enrichment planting of 5 million local timber species to sequester CO2 through nature-based solutions that involved restoring, conserving, and better managing ecosystems to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The planting started in 1999 - 2004 for the carbon sequestration of 5 million local timber species, primarily through a 100-year agreement with the local communities of 22,860 workers, identified as 60% women and 40% men.

Wli Agorviefe project is located in Ghana’s Volta Region, Hoehoe District, which has a total land bank of 19,934.71 hectares. (49,258.39 Acres) that were developed for reforestation and conservation with two main rivers running through that includes the Wli Waterfalls, the largest waterfalls in West Africa.

Preserving Clinker in the Forest

Vision 2050 Forestry has a timber plantation, waterfalls, and caves on 10,000 hectares of the 50,000 hectares that belong to the Dedeso community. The timber plantation is protecting the Clinker beneath the trees that could be used for cement manufacturing. Dedeso is located in the Eastern Region and has a settlement camp that was built by the first president of the Republic of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah, when creating the Volta Lake.
